Time in my hands… September 21, 2010

 

Eversince my Artist Residency ended, I’ve been totally focused on creating things for my ROCK&RULE shop. Ideas on how I can further promote and improve it has been causing me sleepless nights. I’m happy with the support that my A, friends and family has given me but sometimes I wish I can do more… Well, I actually should be doing more than just focusing on the shop but for now here are some Rock&Rule updates :D

I was finally able to buy some Japanese masking tapes, these are just the coolest!!! Kinda expensive here but good thing I was able to ask my friend Kanna to buy some for me during her recent trip to Japan. Sugoi!!! I used these masking tapes on the handcrafted clothespins packaging and I love how it turned out. I also continued weaving spiderwebs for Rock & Rule’s shredded art-tees and made this Astroboy black shirt which I adore

There are still a lot of things up my shredded sleeves so hope you stick around for that. Now, I’m off to my favorite ‘hood Le Marais then shoot the concert of my friend Wassim Qassis at Cité des Arts in the evening and then meet up with Brazilian Dancer/Performer Flavia afterwards. Wow! This is like a reunion of sorts for the artists I collaborated with in I CONSUME THEREFORE I AM… Saya!

WHAT I REALLY WANT TO SAY…

I’m a bit scared on what the future will bring. There are so many things that I need to do and I’m just overwhelmed. I know what needs to be done but I don’t know how to begin. Or maybe I know but I take my time and move around in circles. Around and around I go. I pray, I chant, I visualize… hope good things will come my way.

I AM ON A ROLL!!!

I’m psyched about this new adventure and I need all your support…

I just made my first shipment to Canada, a customized shredded tee-hee

I was just soooo giddy and happy. Totoo na ito!

 

Things can be quite expensive here in Paris, good thing the stuff (films & threads) from Papadom is now here, aruruteynkyu Mawj for bringing it!  My atelier is now in a creative mess but it’s part of the joy of creating. I am now busy preparing the packaging, tags, shooting and making new accessories. The silver charms, I bought here, so it’s kinda pricey but I am excited to create new accessories for the shop with it. Aside from pre-loved items, everything is just handmade. After the show, I’ve been busy preparing things for my e-shop. It’s a website full of handmade-with-love items that I created. I am selling some of my unique edition photo collages and one-of-a-kind shredded shirts and accessories. I honestly need to think of ways to earn and save money here and according to the souldcard reader, I’ll survive doing things with my imagination and my hands So, let’s see where this will lead me…

 

The technique that I use for making collages is also what I apply in creating the shirts – I use different materials / images and I do everything by hand! I started shredding shirts when I got back from my first Artist Residency over a year ago. I needed to do something with my hands but didn’t exactly feel like making some photo collages hence the shredding began… With the necklaces, I made it with my sister during her pregnancy. I made the black one inside the hospital room while waiting for her delivery. It was my last days in Manila and making these was filled with loving memories. I’ve been wanting to share all these but didn’t really have the time to create a page for it and so now with so much time in my hands, I was finally able to do it!  Yipeeeeee!
